    A thought for 2009

I'd like to talk about an interesting story that I heard while I was studying medicine back home in Scotland many many years ago. (By the way I never graduated,

as I failed too many of the exams!)
This story has a moral that I think can be applied to this forum.
Some of you will "get it", others will fail to see the connection.

A man fell down on the street. Probably a heart attack.
Luckily an experienced doctor who had been in practice for over 30 years was passing.
A large crowd gathered at the scene and watched as the doctor began to use his skills to help the man.
Then suddenly a loud voiced young man pushed his way forcefully through the crowd.
As he brushed the doctor aside he said, "out of my way you old man -  I'm a medical student!"

Here's hoping in the New Year that medical students can be more humble, tread more carefully and show respect where it is justified and due. Geeked

    明けましておめでとうございます。

    Regards,
    Douglas

Yeah so true, but luckily that doctor was a wise and sensible man... he stayed at the scene, looking over the shoulder of the young and angry student and ready to do the right thing when the student couldnot handle it. Like he was thinking... "it doesnot matter if the man is saved by me or the student, what matters is that he is saved!"

Keep up the good work Douglas, you are really appreciated here by people who are having their eyes open!

    Happy 2009!
