I'm running Symphony Version 5.1.2 on a Mac G4 (OS X). If I have a sequence open and leave the computer alone for about 15 minutes or more, when I attempt to play the sequence after getting back, I get a beach ball for about 10-15 seconds until the sequence plays again.
Everything works fine after this 10-15 seconds, but I can't figure out what's causing the initial lag after I get back. There's no lag in any of the other programs, so I'm a little confused. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Media Composer.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
It sounds like your mac is going into sleep mode. Check your power management and put it in always on (or something to that effect).
Good luck,
Jef
Ok, I went ahead and checked that the computer is set to never go into sleep mode, and this has not fixed the problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks so much, by the way.
Hi!
DId you check to see if the drives were also set to stay at full power (turn off Put Hard Disks to Sleep)?
Are you talking about our media drives? If you are, we use a Unity network and are connected to the external storage via fibre cable, and i don't know how to access this setting. If you could let me know, that would be great.
If you're NOT talking about our media drives, I set both of the settings in the "Energy Saver" of "System Preferences" to "Never" (as in "never" sleep). Are there other settings somewhere I don't know about?
I think this was a bug in the older version of the Avid Macs on unity. Pretty sure it was fixed in later versions.

Sorry, did not see the Unity reference. My suggestion was for local drives.
I am now out of ideas.
