I need to capture footage from a mini dv tape that has no timecode attached to it. I tried capturing by selecting "V" "A1" and "A2" only, without "TC" selected in the capture window. I could see the video streaming into the Avid, but no audio. I checked the Audio Tool, and there were no levels.
Capturing from a Sony HDV deck.
Help!
Thanks :)
I think this is a limitation that Avid has added, since version MC 2.6, Xpres Pro5.6. Check these:

A way to overcome this is to keep an old version installed at another drive or dual boot, for cases like this, or
buy a mojo ().
...and what happens if I press this button?...
If you have another DV deck, connect the two via firewire & dub from one to the other. This should create a new tape with TC & allow you to capture as usual.
If dubbing via firewire doesn't create a tape with TC, try connecting the two with S-Video & audio cables & record on the second deck.
