XPro stalling when batch importing XDCAM proxies to full res

We're absolutely stumped on this one.

I'm working with a sequence in XPressPro 5.7 composed of XDCAM proxies that now need to be batch imported at full res from the source disks via FAM.  The sequence is created and edited, highlighted in the bin, and I select Bin-> Batch Import. "All Media" is selected when the dialog asks whether to just import offline items.

The batch import dialog starts and appears to be working correctly.  However, the first phase of importing each clip, "Obtaining MXF Metadata," gets completely locked up at approximately 35%, and stays there for about 10 minutes.  After 10 minutes, the progress bar shoots up to 85%, and stays there for another 7 minutes or so.  After those 7 minutes go by, it will successfully import the clip in question, and move onto the next.  This process repeats itself uniformly for EVERY SINGLE PROXY CLIP that has been edited into the show.  Not master clips, but rather every single edited clip in the sequence.  That means for a show with several hundred cuts we're probably looking at a week's worth of waiting around while Avid "obtains MXF Metadata."

Has anyone dealt with this problem and solved it before?  Is it a driver issue? Something wrong with the XDCAM deck?  Any suggestions at all would be helpful.

Is there any reason you're using 5.7 and not the latest version, 5.8.4?

My suggestion is instead of batch importing, import the entire high res clip. Place the sequence in a bin and select the fast menu and select: Set Bin Display > Show Reference Clips. All the clips that are used in the sequence will be displayed. Sort by disk label and import the high res clips into a bin.

When they are all imported relink the sequence to highest quality.
