I have 2 versions of Dvdit Pro HD, one is Sonic - Roxio version 6,3 , installed on an XP sys with wmp 10 the other is Avid Dvd version 6,4 installed on a Vista 64 ultimate sys.
After using version 6,3 for 1,5 - 2 years or so , I have evaluated a rather nice workflow for both dvd and bluray creating , I run my Qt ref files through Adobe mediaencoder for 2 pass encoding and this gives me ( sorry Sonic ) better quality than letting the app itself do the encoding , those videofiles have never ever been reencoded and are running straight through.
Until now I should say .
I had some old vhs tapes , 4: 3 of course , and created some projects in Mc 3,05 .
The same workflow as normal , the 4:3 file runs straight through version 6,3 and XP but is reencoded in version 6,4 in Vista.
I tried with Sorensen 5 with the same results.
If I do this from a 16 : 9 projects , all works well on both sys and I can use my workflow as usual on both systems.
Is this a flag bug with version 6,4 ?
Tomas
give us the iso files back in Avid Dvd please, no gi files for me
Just to clarify (and simplify)... You have a 4:3 file that runs through Avid DVD 6.3 without encoding...but when run through Avid DVD 6.4 it is re-encoded. But 16:9 projects to through both fine (without encoding). Is this correct?

You have understood my swedish - english quite correct , another user discovered the same prob without having read this thread, link is here.
I had the same probs with a 16:9 project today, thought that I had did something wrong with my export settings out from MC, struggled with it 3 hours this morning , then dragged the ready encoded file to my 6,3 XP sys ,worked like a charm , have made some testing this evening with other projects, currently it seems impossible to get any project straight through Avid Dvd 6,4 but some old projects seems to work real strange this one I have tried both Squeeze and Adobe mediaencoder
Which version of Avid DVD are you guys running?
...fwiw... the latest version is 6.0.
Robert, with all respect, the versions that runs perfect on my XP sys has number 6,3 and 630B91A , that is one of the first versions that was released, so old that I have had to update those montecarlo / PS3 drivers myself from the Roxio website, and the version number on my new Avid DVD is 6,0 so that is correct but the numbers after is 641B01A so I read it as actually version 6,4 from Sonic, I might be wrong, however what I do know is that I have reencoding probs when adding files that are supposted to run straight through when I work with 6,0 / 6,4 while my old 6,3 works as great as it always has.
OK... 641B01A is the latest build... I just wanted to make sure that the issue pertains to the very latest. I have sent this up to Avid tech for review and I will report back as soon as I hear anything.
Very good, thxs

Are you seeing this also with Sonic Dvdit Pro Hd , John ?
I'm using the Sonic version~ I'm doing BD lately. I'll try to test this behaviour tonight, Tomas.
I did one more try today, just to refresh my memory, standard widescreen dvd encoded from adobe mediaencoder.
Avid 6,4 wanted to reencode the video file, Sonic 6,3 let it go straight through without any reencoding, even the audio, used pcm standard, ran straight through without any reencodement.
