    C++ runtime error

     Recently my computer motherboard packed up and someone rebuilt it with a new motherboard, graphics card, etc

    The operating system is Windows XP Pro and everything seems to work ok except AVID!

    Everytime I try to open it it comes up with a C++ runtime error and will not open.

    I've tried un-installing and re-installing the software but no joy.

    Does anyone know how I can fix this and get back to editing?

    Thanks

    geoff

    Re: C++ runtime error

     Need way more scoop on your system.  Sounds like the new motherboard may be the culprit but would need to know exactly what the set up is, OS, Graphics card type, etc. and the exact error message you receive.

    Usually with these kinds of issues, it is best to call support so a tech can walk through the system and get you up and running if the system is in fact supported.

    Re: C++ runtime error

     the computer has the following hardware

    Motherboard:- Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4L

    Processor:- Intel Core2Duo E6550 @ 2.33ghz 2GB Ram

    Graphics Card:- Nvidia Quadro FX570

    Operating System:- Windows XP Pro service pack 2

    The error message reads in its entirety

    Microsoft visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime error!

    Program: C:\programfiles\Avid\AvidExpressDV\AvidexpressDV.EXE

    This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

    If anyone can help I would be most grateful. I'll be away until the 1st November so won't be able to reply to any messages until then.

    Thanks Geoff

    Re: C++ runtime error

    I assume you get this error when trying to LAUNCH Xpress DV? I assume that it was working before and suddenly is not working? If so, what have you done lately to your PC...what programs have you installed?

    Re: C++ runtime error

    I just recently reinstalled my Avid DVD by Sonic from the Studio Toolkit. which ran with no problems before, but now I also get that error. Have no idea why, and my only guess is probably some Windows update or perhaps even Service Pack 3 is causing the issues. Not sure. The last time I ran it was Service Pack 2, but runtime errors almost always are Windows releated. I am just waiting till I reinstall a clean OS, cuz I dont think this is gonna get fixed.
