    Avid layoffs

Apparently a swath was cut through the Avid ranks yesterday. Haven't been able to find out how many or who. Guess we'll have to wait until the conference call tomorrow to find out what happened. :-(

Ok, I see the hotlink in the return email but not in the post. That was meant for a different thread, I don't know how it got into this one - I did not paste it here.

Yeah...I kinda took out the link. I knew it was a mis-fire so I killed it.

Thanks, Todd. Have no idea how that happened. That was pasted in the "Import WMV files..." thread.

Does not sound good, will Avid survive a 2 year depression or are they still fat with money?

    Re: Avid layoffs

They said across the board, they mentioned they have 7 divisions  between Pro video, consumer video and audio with lots of duplication of posts.

    $50 Million in annual savings.

They have sold Softimage to Autodesk but will retain the Avid DS team in Canada.

I also got the impression they want much closer ties with Digidesign and Pro video.

    [EDITED for speculation]

    Hope that helps.

[Mod Edit] Nick, please refrain  from the speculation or I will have to remove the whole post.

    Re: Avid layoffs

There are a couple of Avid people I've come to know through their incredible online support. I hope they are still with the company! For me, they ARE Avid.
