a dell inspiron 1520 laptop with vista premium.

2 Gb ram.

Avid Xpress Pro 5.8

i can import mp4 files but can't import mpeg1 or mpeg2

do you know why?

Hi,

MPEG 1 and 2 are not supported for import.  You have to convert the MPEG files to something Xpress Pro can import, like Quicktime.  If you search the forum for "mpeg import" you'll get more information about ways to do this.
