Sony Z1 and Avid Xpress Pro HD

    Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with footage from a Sony Z1 ingested into an Avid Xpress Pro HD environment?  I am about to embark on a 3 camera shoot and want to know if this workflow is workable?  Will xpress pro be able to handle the high end of what this camera can deliver?  I have an older system but I do have a 5.4.1 xpress pro and it works fine with DV signal.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.  Big Smile

    Thanks,

    mike

should be no problem, but make sure you have enough memory and transcode to dnxhd and use medium quality mode on your timeline.

Dell Precision 670, Xeon 3Ghz 3GB Memory 1 x 250 systemdisk, Gb 2x500 Gb datadisks, 2x 1Tb datadisks, Soundblaster Audigy, Quadro FX 1400, MC 3.5.1, Mojo... [view my complete system specs]

that's great.  Would you be able to let me know about the transcode?  Would that be with Sorreson squeeze or within Avid.  Also, where would you choose the medium quality mode?  Sorry I'm kind of a newbie.

You transcode in Avid to DNxHD 120 (or another resolution in NTSC countries, system offers the appropriate resolutions for your situation. Quality: green/green-yellow/yellow bitton on your timeline.
