We are building a avid workstation specially for AMC 3. It will be used for both SD and HD jobs.
Here is what I have in mind:
Instead of spending 3800EUR on a HP XW8600 with two xeon 5450 procs/4gb ram have been thinking about building a custom setup, rebalancing the cost.
But first a key question for you guys: I am aware of the PCI Bus Segmentation requirement for Avid Mojo.
But what if I use a PCI express firewire card? It will be on a different bus then, so there will be no concurential problems with pci. So this is the main question: Does mojo work on pci express firewire cards?
The other generic system specs are:
Intel X48 or P45 chipset board
Quadro FX1700
45nm quad core
4-8 gb ram
Vista 64
~2TB in hard drives
Pci express firewire card
So do you think this may run AMC 3 with mojo sdi?
The PCI FW card is actually the preferred method for splitting out the FW segments so you're good to go there. The rest of your specs look good too but someone with more custom build experience will have to comment on your chip set.

Thanks for reply! Actually it is a PCI Express FW card (not plain PCI) thus hoping to offload the pci bus. But I haven't seen anywhere on the forum this configuration and I was wondering if it's ok.
Yeah, I was using PCI in its generic form. PCI e is fine too.
Well, after a long debate, since we will be using the system in a remote location, away from generic tech support we chose the costly and secure option: the HP build. We can't afford somthing like a needed bios update or tweak, or something going wrong. Our Avid reseller warants that the build will be thoroughly tested before delivery, and also remotely supported by them on location if needed.
Thanks for advice and good luck.
