    Audio Suite Crashes Avid

    Ok.

I've got a new computer built complying  to the recommended specs of AvidStudio.

It was running really fast for the past days. I have started editing a project.

I've already done some audio sweetening using the audio suite.

This morning when I open the project and continued working. When I was trying to open the audio suite tool, Avid suddenly crashed! - the PC totally blacked out and restarts by itself.

I tried it again and the same thing.

    Any clues?

    Thanks.

Thats happened to me as well.  Un-installing Pro Tools LE and Re-Installing it solve the problem for me.  Its a driver issue.

    Re: Audio Suite Crashes Avid

I want to make clear that this was all done inside Avid.

I have not launched or used PTLE for this project. I applied a normalize plug-in form AudioSuite and rendered it. But when i got back the next day, that's when it startS crashing.

BTW, I have finished my video...thanks God! I haven't tried it again since.

...just makin sure before I do any action steps....How about installing the AXP upgrade to 5.2? I've downloaded it, just waiting for the right time.

How would you reinstall just the PTLE? The CD just auto install the whole thing. I got Studio Essential, ONE installer DVD.

    Thanks Adman,

So you think it is the PTLE that's causing the problem? BTW, I've just updated my system specs.....I think I have enough RAM (2 G).

    God bless.

Even though you are not using PT LE within Xpress Pro HD, the Audio Suite still references drivers that PT LE shares with Xpress ProHD.

    Hi.

    Ok, I did:

    1. Uninstalled PTLE.

    2. Re-installed PTLE.

Now, launching the ProTools application crashes the system. AvidXPro and others runs fine. Does this sound like REINSTALL the whole thing?

How about installing XP 5.2? I have it downloaded and ready.

    Re: Audio Suite Crashes Avid

If you're getting hard crashes and BSOD's then this is a known issue relating to Micorosoft's Service Pack 2 and the Data Execution Prevention feature they introduced. The easiest way to resolve the issue is to update your pace drivers at www.paceap.com.

Lets us know if that fixes it.

    Re: Audio Suite Crashes Avid

    Thanks Mr. Thompson.

It is just a black screen before it restarts. No BSOD really. Do you think it is still the same thing?

Ya...I've seen both caused by not updating the pace drivers. Just give it a shot and let us know if it does the trick for you.

    Re: Audio Suite Crashes Avid

    Sorry man...NO LUCK!

    I tried:

    1. Clean Reinstal of ProTols

    2. Reinstall AvidXPro

    3.Installed Latest AvidXPro 5.2

    4. Updated PACE drivers

    Any other ideas?

    Re: Audio Suite Crashes Avid

Hmm...Ok, try this. Check your DAE folder and make sure you don't have any expired plug-ins hanging out there. It's possible you installed some demo plugins that have expired and when Avid or PT LE is trying to initialize these it's causing the hard crash. In the DAE folder you'll see two files for each plugin a ".dpm" and ".rsr"  just go ahead delete both for each plug-in.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Im now in the DAE/plug-ins folder. How can I tell if it is expired? I don't remember installing any trials. Some of them have both ".dpm" and ".rsr".

Ok...i've finally decided to uninstall everything.

Now, I am in the process of  reinstalling the Studio, and then upgrade Xpro to 5.2.

I did the window's ADD/REMOVEprograms and unistalled evryone. I hope I did it right.

I hope it will work as well.

    Thanks.
