I'm thinking its time to upgrade to MC3, but would rather not buy a whole new computer just yet. I know it is way under spec for MC3, but my current system runs AXP 5.8.4 pretty well.
I've also read that MC3 takes better advantage of multi-threading, so it runs faster than AXP (the P4 is a multi-threaded processor).
So has anyone tried this configuration?
P.S. One other ?, can AXP and MC3 exist on the same computer? Since I'd be going outside of spec for MC3, I'd like to keep AXP as a back up.
Thank much as always for all the help!
Hi
Yes it can..
Before upgrading I used P.4 3Ghz for few weeks and it worked well.
It had some problems playing multi layers sequences in GREEN/GREEN mode, but beside that it worked OK.
I don't think you can run both versions
Dor
1. Yes, You can use it on a P4 3Ghz, or at lest on a P4 3.1Ghz. But I think You must pretend it as a temporal solution until You got he money (€1500?) for a new computer.
2. I do not think they will because AXP is a x.8 generation and MC is a 3.0 generation.
3. Do not be afraid of jump. All You effects will be the same, MC has even the templated 3D warp effects which was the only part of 3D warp in AXP. You can also map your keyboard as AXP.
4. You can always uninstall MC and reinstall AXP.
Jump, Jump!!
I jumped!
I should be getting the package in a few days. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement ;).
Yep,
it works smoothly on my machine.
SAlud!
I'm running my MC3 on dual 2.8 Xeon processors with 2GB of RAM and Mojo and - besides noticing the long loading time of the software itself - have noticed no significant degradation in performance (I have always rendered all my effects anyway, so multi-layered real-time isn't an issue one way or another).
I'm also running it on my new laptop: an HP Pavilion DV6000 Series with 3GB of RAM, Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ processor and Nvidia 8400 mobile graphics card with 256 GB of RAM, and Windowns Vista Home Premium, and it runs even better.
