Hi all,
was getting PMM INSUFFICIENT MEDIA errors from stuff I copied from an FS-100 in the P2 architecture. 30 clips all told. 18 of these clips gave me the error. Got rid of the problematic audio from the clips using media tool and they play fine (no error). Downloaded RAYLIGHT in order to convert the problematic audio MXF files to WAV or AIF so I can import and sync in AVID.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CONVERT/GENERATE THE WAVS? I feel like I need a detailed step by step.
There's a different workaround if you wish:
You're getting that error because the FS-100 doesn't pay attention to the length of the audio media when it's recording 24p from 60p. The Avid does pay attention and about 1/2 of the time it's not happy because the audio length is shorter than the number of video frames.
First off you need to use the P2 Import...Clips to Bin function rather than just moving MXF files into the MediaFiles folder. Once the clips are loaded in a bin, select ALLL of the clips in Script view, mark the in and out by hitting the T key, use the frame advance arrow to move forward one frame and mark the in point and then go to the end of the clips, use the frame advance to move back a frame and mark the out. This will effectively make the clips shorter than the audio and will allow you to then use the P2 Import...Media function to consolidate the media (aka convert the MXF into Avid MXF MediaFiles). Avid Media has it's own naming scheme so the original clip names won't be available in the MXF folder if you use this method. If making the clips shorter before importing media doesn't work you'll need to add one more step: drag all the clips onto a timeline to make a new sequence and put it in it's own bin. Consolidate the media on that sequence, show reference clips and use those clips as master clips.
