Yeah yeah they're unsupported but so is every video card I've ever used with Avid.
Searched around and can't find much comment on it, anyone using a GeForce 9600 with Media Composer? If so, which version? Any issues like those people are having with the 8x00 cards? Any experience using one under Vista 64?
All this and more - coming soon to a thread near you. In front of you in fact.
Anyone?
Hey man...True they're unsupported but I haven't figured out a fix for them. I have the GTS 8800 and I'm having no luck. I just posted a similar question and I was told....AVID doesn't support Vista Ultimate or the GTS cards (just the quattro series)?...Hope this lil bit of info helped at least some.

I've got a GeForce 9800GTX and it works fine. All I need to do is turn off "Threaded Optimization" in the nVidia Control Panel and it works great (full screen play back, full resolution, and everything). You can set it so it only affects Avid and thus doesn't mess with other programs.
So, hopefully you'll be fine. That said, given how hit and miss these things are, I wouldn't put any money into something untill I'd found one or two people who had made it work already. When I was building my system, I searched these forums on the GeForce issue and made sure I had found at least three who had made the fix work with a 9800GTX card.
Oh, and I'm using Vista 64-bit Business Edition.
I have a 9600m GT in my laptop and it works perfectly. No problems whatsoever from.

Where can I disable "Threaded Optimization"? I have a GeForce 8700M GT in my Dell XPS notebook. I can't find this setting in the NVIDA controll.

Right clip on your desktop and, in Vista, you'll see the option to pick nVidia Control Panel. It's a bit above "personalize" or "preferences." Go to the "Manage 3D Settings" menu, pick Avid Media Composer as the program you want to alter, and then change "threaded optimization" to "off" instead of "auto."
