    Third party network storage

What experiences have you guys had with third party network storage?

I'm contemplating something like the Thecus N5200. Will something like that handle multiple streams of DNxHD over a gigabit connection to my Media Composer workstation?

Anyone else using one of those or something similar?

I can tell you that if it still even exists - STAY AWAY from any server system named "Trans Soft". I worked freelance in a facility that had this and we were down more often than we were up and running, due to TS problems.

    Thanks Larry.

Is anyone else currently using a NAS for Avid media and can tell me how it works for them?

I think iSCSI is the key, Avid media doesn't play well over Windows SMB file shares.

It would not be a versatile as Unity or Lanshare as without special consideration it would be unable to support multiple concurrent access to the same media drives.

MetaSAN is a product I've been interested in, but have not been able to try - looks promising.

Try EditShare, it works great for us (two MC stations).
