    720P/50 Slow Motion

    Hi all,

I am working on a PAL project which has been shot on P2 at 720P/50. The final video is going to be a SD Master so 25P. Is there a way to slow down the 50P footage to 25P still looking fliud?

    Thanks.

    Re: 720P/50 Slow Motion

I think you mean playback the footage at normal speed @ 25P (not slow down).

25P is a different cadence to 50P - it won't look the same. You have 2 choices - either go for the film look of 25P or match the "window" look of 50P with a 50i master. I can't think of any advantage to morphing two frames into 1 as opposed to just dropping every second frame in a 25P scenario.

If you are making a 50i master then the 50P temporal cadence will help you - you will be creating 1 field from every progressive frame.

One advantage of shooting 50P is you could get very nice 50% slo mos in 25P.
