I'm running an ISIS version 1.4 with 2 system directors and 2 16 blade chassis and I've just noticed that the 2 system directors have a time difference of an hour.

Now having spent years making sure all our systems have exactly the same time I'm extremely concerned at this situation. I don't know what the implications are and I'm going too put a call in to Avid in the morning but has anybody seen this before  ?

I have not seen this issue.  Confirm NTP settings.  failover to the accurate system and reboot the inaccurate.  The best time sync utility I have found is: http://www.meinberg.de/english/sw/time-server-monitor.htm.  There is a small service that installs, and it has a GUI control Panel.  Never used on ISIS, because I usually use NTP settings.  But it may help. 

Out of all of your server that time sync could drift, the storage is somewhat ok.  But I prefer sync.

Typicaly an hour difference means that 1 system is set for automatic Daylight savings, yet the other isn't.

Or perhaps your time zones aren't set right.
