Relinking media stays connected to original drive

Were digitizing to a firewire drive and coping media to another a sata drive.

When we copy the media over random takes stay linked to original drive. Tried unlinking, and relinking every possible way. Tried consolidating media no go.

    Any ideas appreciated

    thanks

Re: Relinking media stays connected to original drive

Are you able to disconnect the original drive? Then relink once you know that the original media isn't connected to the computer.

If some of the files aren't being moved over when you consolidate (I've had this issue, don't know why but sometimes it happens...) I've found that you can move the remaining ones manually through the desktop/finder by going into the Avid media folders and sorting by date to locate the files.

Then delete the msm*** files so the media databases get rebuilt when you restart Avid and try to relink then.

This is probably safest if you haven't started editing yet. If the master clips in your bin don't relink after that you can always open the media tool and find the master clips on the new drive and drag them to your bin.

    Good luck.
