How do I create a soft edge diagonal wipe ala star wars/vintage movies? There isn't a 'soft' setting for this effect. Using 3.0.

 Can't seem to find a way in the standard Avid effects, but if you have Sapphire plug-ins, the S2 WipeLine effect will do exactly what you want. A free trial download is available at www.genarts.com.

You could draw a rectangle in AniMatte, make one of the edges diagonal, soften the edges, and then animate it across the screen as a wipe.
