    firewire and 3.0 problem status

I'm trying to find out the status of the problem with mac and 3.0 (firewire conflict I do believe) but I cant seem to find any posts. Has anything changed? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? We're looking to purchase some new machines but want to know if apple is safe to go with.

Sorry if this has been talked to death.

No ETA... it sits largely in Apple's court.
