Help capturing through SDI with SDI Mojo and Sony J30 deck

Hi, just trying to capture SDI through SDI deck, connectors seem to be correct, but message I get when I try to capture is

"NO VALID VIDEO SIGNAL ON CURRENT VIDEO INPUT"

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Thanks

Re: Help capturing through SDI with SDI Mojo and Sony J30 deck

Just tested it through AJA IoLD and it plays and can capture fine, I've never done SDI through MOJO before, so Is there a certain menu option I may be missing?

    Thanks

You need to have an SDI mojo...do you?

Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Yes, using MOJO SDI but no Sync gen... message says as above, everything is set in capture window SDI for video, and SDI for audio, V, A1, A2 selected, and NO deck control....

Could it be because of no Deck control, we have a keyspan USB to Serial adaptor, but we havent tried it on the Sony J30 Deck.

Re: Help capturing through SDI with SDI Mojo and Sony J30 deck

Now, I'm just trying it on HP XW8400 system, with 2.8.3 (the last 2.8.x release)

and this is the message I get.

"NO VALID VIDEO SIGNAL ON CURRENT VIDEO INPUT"

(and I've tested the SDI out of the J30 Deck, I can see video and hear audio through the AJA ioLD on the MAC...

Thanks for any Ideas! (this is now frustrating as I need to get 12+ hours inported this weekend, and Fri night was a write off!)

Could be a bad mojo. Have you checked that it plays out to the montor, (or deck if you dn't have an SDI monitor

Also, have you checked what signal you are putting out of the deck? Like is it an unsupported frame rate, etc.? You aren't doing HD are you? SD only on the Mojo, but the AJA will do HD.

Give us some stats and we can try to help you. Otherwise, we are just shooting you random questions.

Format of the tapes, frame rate, etc..  I'm gonna, for instance, assume that you have SDI selected on the capture tool, instead of Composite or Component...

    Don't trust the internet...

Re: Help capturing through SDI with SDI Mojo and Sony J30 deck

Well, here's the answer... FAULTY breakout cables.... and the only reason they were changed as a LAST resort, was because FCP gave us a signal.

Allow me to explain. -through AJA ioLD and Apple's not so marvelous FCP, it accepted a weak signal, which is why we got dropped frames. Avid wouldn't even accept such a weak connection.

Thanks for all that trid to help, I know its tough when it SHOULD work.
