Hi Pipelli,
I have exactly the same computer (RAM, OS, quicktime version...), except the video card, which is a lower model. I tried to install MC 3.01, but I can't even launch the application. This a complete new OS installation that I made. Did you make something special to make this work ?
It could be interesting for me to make this work for testings and some bin manipulation (SD project, 24p or 25i), along with the two editing stations that I have (which are Mac Pro's).
Regards,
Papalou
Something went wrong with the quote... oups.

Glad to say, 2 weeks now and not a single crash of any kind. (3.01 on 10.4.11 and QT7.4.5)
All it has taken is to use the play length command when working on sequences with relatively heavy nested effects. Sequences with no nested effects don't cause any problems...
Glad I'm not on the 10.5.5 bleeding edge yet. Very happy here!

I was so excited to find your post. I'm a long time XPRESS PRO user who needed to upgrade to Composer. But my machine is 10.4.11 and I needed MC 3.0.1 I bought the upgrade and they told me I'd get a disk with the most current software (which of course will only load on 10.5) but that I could go on the web and get the 3.0.1.
Your post was the only info I could find how to do that, but when I clicked on your number 3, which sounds just like me, when I clicked on update download, somehow I was sent to an upgrade for 3.0.5
Any ideas of what I can do?
It would be greatly appreciated.
Jim
The disk I got from Avid, marked Media Composer 3.0 won't install on 10.4.11. I get a message saying it needs 10.5.
Is this not 3.0.5? If I downloaded 3.0.5, would it install? I assumed the disk was 3.0.5 because I thought that was the most recent version, and also the read-me for 3.0.5 says you need 10.5
No, it's 3.0 which was Leopard only. 3.0.1 and up was for Tiger. 3.05 will install if you download it.

Is it still possible to get this Tiger release now tha Leopard 3.1 is out?
All the links seem to point to the 3.1 now.
3.0.5 is still in the download center and runs very well on 10.4.11.
Hi there,
Still no solution for that G4. I tried with XPRESS PRO 5.8.4, I can open the application and create a project, but when I tried to read a sequence, I have only the sound and the video is freezed on the first frame.
Any idea anybody ?
Video frozen usually means that your Video Card is not supported. What card do you have?
Lower version of MC can always be downloaded from the Avid download Center, even the oldest version of MC such as 1.3.1. Or if you have plan to buy new MC, you can still install lower than 3.1 which would fit your OS (Tiger).

Hi BLKDOG,
It's an ATI9000Pro with 64Mb. Sure that it's a not a high end one by now.
Nope, that's your problem. After 4.8.4, you need a 9600 or newer.
Thanks,
I'll try to find a better one.
