YES BLACK, SORRY... IT WAS TODD.
Thank you
pipelli..
There's no need to go all CAPS LOCK on me... you do know I was joking right... that is what the smiley face means...
I think your unmatched passion for the G4 is fantastic, I appreciate it very much in fact. I enjoy your updates on how you have it working and what modifications you've made to it. Between you, me and everyone else in this forum... nothing ever matched my dual 1.42 ghz G4 from a stability standpoint. That thing never crashed, never faltered... just plodded along like a perfect workhorse.

Ok. Pipelli's post has me wondering. Could I upgrade the video card on my G4 dual 1 gig mirror door and run 3.01 successfully with 2GB of Ram? I mainly do DV25 stuff with firewire drives and would like to upgrade to MC software but can't really afford the upgrade and a new mac and all the new software that would run on Leopard and an Intel mac.
Is it crazy to attempt such an upgrade? I'm currently running 4.8.4 with little to no issues. Will 3.01 be available as a downloadable upgrade from xpress pro 4.8.4 or do I have to buy MC 3.0 to be able to download 3.01. I'm trying to avoid going to Leopard just yet. I know that it won't be a supported system obviously, but any feedback would be appreciated.
Would be interesting to try that. But I'm not sure if there are any lines of G4 codes left in the new releases - remember that this CPU had the extra unit "Altivec" which dissappeared with the G5.
So far everything has been working just fine with 3.0.1, but me and one of the other editors here noticed that as soon as we both installed 3.0.1 that half of the applications disappeared from the dock on the MAC. I was able to easily replace them, but it is kind of annoying to go find a certain program and it not being where you are used to having it. Has anyone else had this same issue or is it just some bug?
Just give the people what they want!
It's happened to some folks Steve, there's nothing wrong on your end. I've seen it happen to folks when installing MC 2.8, MC 3 and now MC 3.0.1. It did not happen to me when I installed MC 3.0.1 on my home suite, but did when installing various iterations of MC3 Beta on Leopard... go figure...
Yep, there's another thread going about this already. Basically, it's a bug and, anything to the left of the Avid icon gets deleted. As a workaround, I've place my icon all the way to the left and haven't had the problem since.

You're right it is a bug, but you mean everything to the right gets deleted correct? at least that is what happened to me.
hmm, no. The bug that is logged is everything to the left. When I put my Avid alias to the complete left of my dock, the uninstall bug went away (and I'm loading a new build every week or so).
Okay, but for us it was everything to the right of the AVID icon got deleted. Just to let you know in case you hear otherwise.
Anyway, all is well now.
Interesting... on my MacPro the installer deleted everything to the right of the Avid icon, as I always keep it all the way to the left anyway. My entire dock was wiped out on each beta install... only the Finder and the Avid icon remained. However at home MC 3.0.1 wiped out nothing and the icon was still all the way to the left... which would coincide with BLKDOGs method. Seems like different machines go left or right.
Actually, there's a step you need to do first. If you have registered your 2.8 purchase, you can go right to avid.com/protect, fill out the info there and receive a dongle updater by email.
