Hi there,
A few of you have expressed interest in using a second small camera... AVCHD being the main format available for small cameras today. It's been a huge pain to edit, but here's a new program I just heard about: AVCHD UpShift.
From its blurb: "A collaboration of VASST expertise and NewBlue engineering, AVCHD UpShift decodes your footage once, so your NLE doesn't have to do the heavy lifting. Use AVCHD UpShift to batch-convert your original AVCHD footage into high bitrate MPEG .m2t files, and then edit the files easily on any HD / MPEG2 capable NLE"
Avid's logo is included in the blurb.

Has anyone tried it?
Malcolm
Got a note back from the makers of AVCHD UpShift:
"AVCHD UpShift only runs on Windows computers. If you have a Windows PC (or if you have bootcamp and windows on your MacBook) them you can download our trial version to try it out.
UpShift generates just m2t files, not mxf.
As for how long, it is dependent on the processor and the transcoding settings, but it is typically about an hour to transcode an hours worth of video"
... for anyone who'd interested...
