Trying to install digi drivers after MC 3 install, I keep getting a windows message saying:
Your computer is missing a Windows XP update required by protools. Please install all available critical updates before installing Pro tools.
My updates are off, should I turn them on?
Just thought I'd bump this up one more time with a little more information. After deleting Pro Tools from my system I tried to get my 002 to work with Avid, when MC 3.0 didn’t recognize the digi 002 I tried to delete the 7.4 drivers and got the Windows critical updates message. If I try to install the digi drivers I get the same message.
BTW I just got back from a one moth shoot overseas with a little more than 30 hours of HD tapes. After installing 3.0 I started capturing the footage, 15 hours into the capture process and all has been flawless. No problems with time code breaks and the machine control has worked perfectly using only a firewire connection into a Panasonic 1400 deck without the usual Rosetta cable hookup.
3.0 Supports service pack 3. Did you install that yet?
Great to hear about your success!

No I didn't, I read the readme file but I guess I missed that part
Thanks for your reply!

Good luck and let us know how it goes...
SP3 is supported now BLKDOG? An article in the Knowlege Base seems to suggest it isn't.
My Bad. We were told SP 3 would be supported when 3.0 was released but, apparently it didn't make it out of SQA.
I'm checking with them now to see what the status is. Hold tight.
Ok, so, apparently there was an issue that kept it from being approved for 3.0 but it should be included in a future release.
Sorry to jump the gun.
The error message you are getting is due to a missing Hot fix.
This page may help you get going.
Thanks again Blkdog,
For what it's worth on the assumption that SP3 is SP2 with all updates up to the SP3 release date, I went ahead and installed it on my new, purpose built MC3 system. So far I've encountered no issues, and its been given a pretty fair punishing this past weekend..
I should have followed up on this last night, but didn't get around to making the changes until late. Anyway I installed the Windows critical update patch KB926255 (thanks BLKDOG) rebooted and was finally able to uninstall the digi 7.4 drivers and then reinstall them. My digi 002 then started working with MC 3.0. I believe I corrupted the 7.4 drivers after uninstalling PT which I did after the MC 3.0 install.
A suggestion might be, if you have Pro tools on your system, uninstall it along with MC 2.8 before installing 3.0.
I'm not sure what to say about the missing critical update. I have had updates turned off on my system which has been a standing recommendation by Avid for a long as I can remember.
