Here is something I have been wondering about for at least 10 years now, but for some reason have never bothered investigating. Let's say there is a timeline with 3 video tracks, and that I have just inserted something on to V3. When I switch to insert something on to V1, the little TV icon just to the right of where it says V3 and monitors that layer follows me to V1, so I can't see the top layers- until I turn it back on on V3. Is there a way to lock that little monitor to the top layer so I can always monitor all layers? I notice that the audio tracks don't change their monitoring no matter how and where I drag things around.
I happen to be working on DV Xpress Pro Mojo today, but I have noticed this on all the flavors of Avid I have worked on over the years.

This also drove me crazy until I found the answer. You can turn off auto monitoring, I think it is in the timeline settings. I am capturing right now and can't look.
Hi Mikey,
Yeah, it's in Timeline Settings. Turn off Auto Monitoring.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
Wow.

turn off auto-monitoring, turn on auto patching. Life is so much easier.
