Problem with directly zooming in using Pan & Zoom

I should be grateful for advice on the following problem:  With our old Avid Express we used Pic-in-pic a lot to slowly zoom in to stills.    We have now got the latest Avid Express Pro HD (v5.8.1) expecting to use Pan & Zoom to keep the resolution as we zoom in.

But we cannot make it zoom from a wide angle directly into the end frame - it zooms into the centre of the frame and then at the last minute lurches in the direction of the end frame.

The whole point of a zoom in is that it slowly focusses your attention on the end frame and so the zoom needs to be directed to that frame from the start (as Pic-in-pic does).

For example, school class shot of 50 children.  Zoom into an individual top left.  There is no point in spending half the zoom zooming into a child in the centre!

Linear or spline path options does not make any difference.  I have tried putting in intermediate key frames but can't make that work either,

    Any ideas, please?

Re: Problem with directly zooming in using Pan & Zoom

It sounds like an errant key frame.  Check each individual keyframe to make sure acceleration is not set to constant or hold.  Also zoom in very close to make sure there are not two keyframes right next to each other.
