Test system: MC 3.0/WinXP SP3, self-built, water cooled, Intel QX9650 over clocked to 3.7 GHz.
Problem: MC3 crash at acpl with 8800 gtx
Solution: use Riva Tuner to emulate quadro 4600
Problem: MC3 crash at acpl with 9800 gx2
Solution: use RivaTuner to force open-gl 1.5. The 9800 gx2 is actually two cards, so force open-gl 1.5 on both. Also, the 9800 gx2 runs stable but very hot. I recommend water cooling, or use it to heat your small studio during winter.
Thanks to previous posters for the RivaTuner tip.

JVR:SP3 is not supported!
haha you point out that SP3 is not supported, when he is using two cards that arent even supported lol
SP3 is supported with MC 3. And soft-modding a GeForce card to Quadro with RivaTuner also works. My previous system used an unmodded GeForce 9750 which also worked.
I have Riva Tuner installed in my system for a long time. I mainly use it for controlling the fan of the GPU. I have not installed v3 on my home system. Hopefully, I dont need to do the soft mod.

I do take Avid's approved hardware list into great consideration, however I build my own systems and what is and is not supported comes out via my own research. The new nvidia GTX 280 also works with MC3.0 via the opengl 1.5 mod in Rivatuner.
Hi,
Im new to using RivaTuner. How easy is it to soft mod my Geforce 7900 GTX?
Thanks!

John I just checked the ReadMe and SP3 is not mentioned?
[EDIT] I just checked the link that I'd been directed to. I have installed SP3, and it's working, but now it appears that although any updates released to May are supported, SP3 has not been checked by engineering and is currently "use at own peril" - which I am, albeit inadvertently.
However the risk to me appears low, since SP3 is SP2 plus all updates to May '08. Up to now after one week's reasonably intensive testing my system is stable,
Yes, sorry. I corrected my previous post.

Hi JK. I've just soft modded my GeForce 7900GT to a Quadro FX1500. Got all the info from this site.
