Hello,
I would like to ask about one thing. I am going to shoot a film (35mm film camera) with 24fps film speed and the post-production will run in 25fps. Does that mean that the audio recorder (TC generator) will run at 25fps? Also, what is the sapling freq then? 48.000 or 48.048? I am kinda confused with this... The film is for cinema, will run in 24fps.
Best,
Petr
If the film is being shot at 24fps, and they are posting in PAL, they should most definitely post in a PAL 24p project. Picture is telecined at 25fps, captured at 25fps, but stored and played back at 24fps by the Avid. Sound should roll 48.000Hz, and can have either TC24 or TC25, doesn't really matter (although some telecine houses for dailies may have preferences, check with them). If they insist on running the footage at 25fps, they can still use 25fps as the playback speed in the Film Settings of the 24p Project.
You simply cannot easily post in 25fps without creating all sorts of trouble, both for syncing as well as down the line.
You will likely encounter a whole lot of videots people who will claim that shooting and/or posting 25fps is easier/cheaper/faster, all of which is nonsense. Shooting and posting 24.00fps in PAL environments has been an everyday common practice for decades in lots of countries, and successfully.
