OK, so I figured out a fix. I downloaded a fresh file and it still froze during decompression. I canceled out of the decompress, started to decompress again into the same folder, then chose not to overwrite the existing files. It skipped the existing files and finished decompressing. I installed and ran MC 3 and all seems OK.

On the avidstore it seems like the download versions of AMC 3.0 are not for Adrenaline systems. Why not?

Sure it is, at least for PC. For Mac there is a bug that prevents 3.0 from working very well.

No. According to Marianna, if you are registered as an Adrenaline, you need to use the Adrenaline upgrade in order to get the proper dongle updater.

YEah, I don't get it either. Another bone-head decision from your friendly neighborhood finance department.

 So if I download the cheapest version, it will not work with my dongle?

Is there a difference between a Adrenaline dongle and a software only or Mojo dongle?

And if I order the more expensive version (not download) do I get a dongle update file right away via mail or so?

Because I have allready downloaded v3.0 from the download center. I have it installed. All I need now is a dongle update file.

From what I've been told, it's not that the software will not work, it's that, when you put in your information for the dongle updater, Avid will see that you did not pay for an upgrade to your Adrenaline dongle so you won't get one.

Haven't tried it myself yet.

You can download the software all day long, It's the dongle versioner that lets you run it.

why i'm keep getting this message? This is for the upgrade offer from xpress pro to media composer 3.0. I paid $495.00 for the box version of media composer. I got this upgrade from avid reseller after the promotion. How come on the sticker it says 

UPDTR LBL XPRO 5.6 TO MC 2.7 AND NOT 2.8?

I did the same upgrade attempt and, like you, wondered why it said 2.7 and not 2.8. I called up Avid (Denmark) who realised the mistake and they emailed me another upgrade key code.
