I am using media composer v10.5 batch digitsing using the sony DVW - M2000P digi deck.
The deck cannot find the timecode for any clip while going forwards, it goes past the timecode required then stops and I have to hit 'Try Again'. when going backwards it finds the timecode no problem.
its very frustrating as every single clip (almost, unless they are very near each other timecode wise) has to be 'Tried Again'
this particular deck does this on other Avids too, while another one of these same digi decks does not.
Does anyone know is this a setting in the deck maybe? or in the Avids?
Any help greatly appreciated...
There are some things to check in the VTR, as we have been using these units on Adrenaline for a few years without problem. Check to see whether the timecode is set to Auto, or LTC or VITC only. LTC reads at tape speeds of 1x or greater, while VITC can be read at low tape speeds. The VTR will swap between VITC for low speed, and go to LTC for when you are scanning through the tape etc. That can affect the way the unit works, especially if you have a different VITC and LTC codes on tape. Also check the way the unit does its preroll. it can do te preroll counting by CTL or TC. I often run the unit on CTL as it seems to work better. Hope this helps.
Its on Auto, is that right? also which setting is the pre roll setting?
I changed the 'auto' setting on deck to ltc which made no difference, i then changed the avid setting to use control track for pre roll instead of timecode, this didnt work either. i have also checked I think all the deck settings against the other machine which does not have this problem and they appear to be the same?????
Are there other internal settings on the deck which are not on that front panel?
its a total mystery...!!!
Also, it seems like it only has this problem with time of day timecoded tapes, iv eone in now that has a continuous timecode and so far it hasn't happened!
