    quicktime w/ alpha import realtime?

    Hi all,

Maybe I'mmissing something here, but I'm wondering this:

When importing a quicktime w/alpha (animation codec), it appears as a Matte Key as expected.  When loading it into source mon, it appears OK when scrolling or parked on frame, but will not play realtime.   This is in a 1080i5994 project.

Importing same graphic into 30iNTSC project plays realtime in source mon just fine.

So is this basically a limitation of HD projects?   I've confirmed with Avid that Titles behave this way in full quality mode sequence in HD, but I thought that an imported quicktime w/ alpha would play realtime in a source monitor, no?

You're dealing with roughly four times the number of pixels with 1080i.  Your PC may be just fast enough to handle SD mattes in realtime, or just not fast enough to handle HD mattes.  Either way, it isn't a limitation of HD per se.
