I just worked with my project and hit ctrl-shift-f for full screen and it worked smooth and perfect. Then I shut down MC going for lunch and coming back I started it again and then when I hit ctrl-shift-f I get this message:
"Full screen playback is not supported on this system"
Followed by a comment on going to avid.com/support for a list of supported graphic cards where mine is on.
What happend? Why does it play and then don't without any settings whatsoever changed?

I had the same problem when I was still using my GT7900GFX card. A few times, out of the blue FSP wouldn't work.
Re-installing the nVidia driver solved the problem. I suggest you do the same and see if that gives you back FSP.
Hope this helps, good luck.
Seems like an odd thing to do when I haven't touched the settings of the video card
I know what you mean. It is really random. Since I have switched to a supported GFX card and using the nVidia driver quoted in my AXP/MC readme, it never occurred again.
I've had this randomly several times recently since moving to MC 2.8.1. I've just changed the faulty Quadro 1500 GFX card however and hope its banished. I have same base sytem, gfx card and driver as you Andy (funny that ;) )

MC 3, XP SP2, Asus P5K-E Mobo, Dual Quad Core 2.4Ghz CPU (3.0 Ghz if I'm up against it!), 4Gb 800Mhz RAM Dual channel, 4 x 500Gb SATA Stripe O pairs, Quadro FX 1500 GFX, Soundblaster Audigy, Mojo SDi. Sony PVM CRT. Approved Avid HP 8240 Notebook. Original DIY PC: Shuttle SN85, AMD 3200, 1Gig Ram, Quadro 980, on board sound, on board firewire, 2 x SATA + WD ext HDD - could that be less 'compatible? Never hiccuped once! :-)
I've experienced the same problem several times before as well. After several times, I realized it only happened when an item called "AvidSDMService.exe" was running in the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager before I opened Avid. Now I simply check the processes in the task manager before I open Avid, and if that *.exe is open I end the process and then run Avid, and FSP has worked everytime.
Hope this helps!

So... what is "AvidSDMService.exe"? I end processes all the time, but only when I know what it is.

Hi,
You found a link to a Media Composer supported video card list with a GeForce card on it? Could you link to it please?
thanks,Carl

I'd love to know as well. My Quadro FX1100 only does full screen playback when AvidSDMService.exe is not running.
BTW, you don't have to keep on ending process, you can right click on My Computer, choose Manage, choose Services and Applications, choose Services, double click on AvidSDMService, press Stop and change Startup type to either Manual or Disabled.
