Hi,
I wanna do a standard cut from my edits in AVID Xpress onto DV Cam from my Sony HVR-M15E DV/HDV deck (do a mster of my edits noto DVCam tape), but am having troubles, although it used to work in the past...
Avid doesnt recognize the deck anymore. Its plugged via firewire at the usual firewire socket of the computer where it's always been, the settings of the deck havent changed. When I open AVID a message appears saying it doesnt recognize the deck. So I have to go to add the deck manually (deck configuration> add channel > via firewire > OHCI )
The deck sees my edits as I can see a still on the monitor of where the playhead is on the timeline, but when I press play it turns to black on the monitor (it lpay normally on the Avid window of my computer), and when I pause again it shows the frame where I paused on the monitor
I can capture whats from my deck though no problems..
Last device I connected to AVID was a DIGIBETA SX deck
any solutions welcome!
thanx in advance
Have you tried (after configuring the deck) to just start a Digital cut (as in Digital cut "the function" not normal playback).. That the screen turns black when you ht play is probably caused by unrendered effects or a faulty setting. When doing digital cut that should run or tell you to render...

The one strange issue i had with the HVR15 deck, is that sometimes it would or would not recognize the deck if the setting on the deck was on "auto" - meaning what type of format were you playing or recording. When i set the deck to HDV or DVCAM it always recognized the deck. It was a little annoying. You could give that a try as well. Even though, i understand, you haven't changed the settings on the deck. Sometimes it can be a little tempermental.
