Having read the handy Working With HDV pdf that can be found here, I just wanted to clarify about monitoring - client will be working on Media Composer 2.8 software with Mojo SDI, having shot HDV 1080i50. The plan is to ingest HDV into HDV project as recommended. The pdf then states in order to monitor edit via Mojo, one must switch Project Format to 25i.
My question is, what happens when you continue editing the HDV material within project format set to 25i? Are you still working within the HDV domain with DNxHD-120TR used for rendering, but now wit the added option of an SD downconvert via Mojo?
My understanding is that as soon as any rendering needs doing, Avid will make use of the DNxHD120TR codec, but will this codec show up as a rendering option in Media Creation within 25i project, or only within 1080i50 HDV format?
I don't want a workflow where client has to work on computer monitors and switch back and forth to toggle between editing and watching their edit on a broadcast monitor. Obviously when something new needs capturing they will have to switch back to HDV format.
Can someone clarify please?
I would like to know it also.....

Yep you will be forced to render at SD res.
As a workaround you can rerender the timeline after you have reached pix loc.

When you change your format to SD for monitoring, you will also be changing your Media Creation settings to SD. So, any renders you do will be in SD.
One great feature in the upcoming release is the ability, when you are done with your cut, to change the format back to HDV, tell the system to un-render the entire timeline and then you can do a quick render in to out to get your precomputes back up to HD.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
It's not that smart. It just unrenders the timeline or between in and out points.
Laptopeditor: How do you tell the system to unrender all the renders its done in SD however ?
For the current release (since it seems to have been fixed in v3)...
drop the sequence in a new empty bin.
Open Set Bin Display in the bin's fast menu
Check 'Rendered Effects'
This will reveal all the render media related to this suquence in the bin. You can sort it from here.
Hi
I have found a bug in MC (from ver 2.5) and this might help you!
The bug is when you map a keyborad shourcut for "render In/Out", to any SHFT KEY, it will render ALL EFFECTS AGAIN!
By default it should render only unrendered effects (and it does if you map the render command to a non SHIFT KEY).
I use this a lot when I go from OFFLINE to ONLINE. It force the sequence to be re render.
I think it can work in this case too.
It is not a bug but an actual documented feature (search the help for RERENDERING). The steps I indicated allows you to sort.
