    Nitris forgetting Media Folders

    Hi there,

We are having an issue with our DS Nitris, every time we boot it up it's losing it's media folders, and we have to re-configure the storages every time. Is there any solutions to this? Thanks!

Um, we're gonna need a little help here.  What kind of storage?  Local?  Shared?  When did this start?  Any changes to the system recently?

    Media Composer 3.0 w/Mojo (analog), HP xw8400, 1xQC 3.0GHz, 4GB RAM, FX 3700, 500GB Boot, 1x1TB & 1x500GB internal SATA media drives (temp), 2xHP L2245w... [view my complete system specs]

    Re: Nitris forgetting Media Folders

Avid DS persists its media storages from a server.ummd table that includes the media files list (index) and the storages configuration.

In your case, it seems that this list is damaged and thus cannot be updated (or keep its settings).

Check in the Windows Computer Management console, under Services, if the Avid Media Indexer is started.  And if you can stop and restart the service fully.

If it won't stop (loop endlessly or hang), the server.ummd is corrupted and must be deleted (from C:\Program Files\Avid\Services\DSSystem).  Note that you again will lose the storages settings until the Avid Media Indexer can work normally and build a clean server.ummd table content.

For more details, consult the application DVD content under Drivers and Utilities and look for the HTML Troubleshooting section in the workstation that match your setup.  The same information is also available online from the Avid DS Support center.
