    HP xw8600 or xw8400?

     My HP xw8000 has died and we will be purchasing another.  My vendor recommended the xw8400 and I just checked the recommended systems and I see that the xw8600 is at the top of the list but for MC 3.0 only.  I just upgraded from Xpress to MC so I have 2.8.1.  I am planning to upgrade to 3.0 as soon as it is available.  Any thoughts on advantages or disadvantages to either computer?

     Yeah. Get the xw8600. We are considering getting one as well for June. Put two Quad core Intel top number CPU's in it and you now have the equivalent of a MAC book pro 8 core.

    Upgraded to Media Composer from Avid Xpress Pro and now at MC 3.0.5, but had to roll back to 3.0.0. Also added Avid Studio Toolkit 5.7 running on.....HP... [view my complete system specs]

    The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
