Alright, so I have been trying every avenue to make a digital cut to tape with my current story production on Avid: big no-go.
We FINALLY got the video to cut to tape--but sans sound! This is the second time this has happened and after making numerous calls we're starting to think it's time to just uninstall and then re-install Avid...but definately we are just hoping for another option that doesn't require un-installing the system.
I've double checked that the little video quality menu oval is clicked to the yellow/green option and that all of the Audio tracks are clicked on.
Help!
Thankyou!
In order to help you, we have to know what the problem is. Why isn't it working? What is actually happening?
Then you need to run down your hardware and software for us. Including what storage and decks you are using.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

The problem is that when we make a digital-cut from the Avid to a tape we are able to record the video but are unable to record the audio. We end up with my minute long story on the Sony PD170 camcorder but without the sound I recorded and edited on the same timeline as my video b-roll.
We are using a 1Beyond laptop with Avid XPress Pro on it as well as a G-tech external hard drive connected through firewire. The Sony is connected to the hard drive via the 4 pin-to-4 pin firewire and then the hard drive is connected to the laptop via the 6 pin-to-4 pin firewire.
