    Bin Emptied Itself

I've read about several similar problems, but this one seems unique. After working today, I saved everything and then closed the program (Media Composer). It locked up for about half an hour before I decided to shut down the computer. Now, one of the bins in the project I was working on is empty. It contained a lot of sequences (I'm working on a feature-length movie and I kept each scene on it's own sequence). All the other bins are fine and all the other projects are fine, and even this "Sequences" bin is showing up with the others, there's just nothing in it. It represents hundreds of hours of work, so any suggestions for anything that could possibly recover anything would be hugely appreciated.

There's a folder called Avid Attic. It contains autosaves of your bins.

Take a look inside. You'll be happy.

I have heard of this before, never experienced it myself.

The attic should be your friend here, hopefully.

and some sort of project backup procedure for the future ;-)

    Attic!

Here is the KB article on how to retrieve things from the Attic:

    http://avidtechnology.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/avidtechnology.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=70899&p_created=1102100019&p_sid=4nso574j&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NzcsNzcmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0wJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1BdHRpYw**&p_li=&p_topview=1

May I also suggest that in the future, you do a couple things.

    1) Back up your project folder every night.

    2) Keep two bins as your sequence bins and make copies of all your sequences before closing out of composer each night.
