I am upgrading from Pro HD to Media Composer. I travel with my laptop every day so weight is an issue. I'm looking for a new laptop to use with Media Composer. I've had lots of issues with video cards from non-approved laptops, so I want to get something tried and tested, but it seems like the recommended laptops are a bit heavy for my likes. Any recommendations?
Thanks.
I know that you've posted this in the "PC" forum, but I'd look at a MacBook Pro if I were you. I've always said that if the time came and I needed a laptop for editing, it would be a Mac.

Have a look at Sager. They're not Avid approved, and I labored over the decision to buy one. It was returnable, so I had a month to put it through it's paces. I bought one, never looked back. They have a guarenteed 72 hour turn around if it needs repair, but mine hasn't blinked. I also recomend, no matter which brand you buy, you get one with an Express Card slot. I'm surprised this is not standard for Avid on portable. You can run portable sata drives at lightening speed (3gb per sec), in RAID if you like. HD real time, no problem. My Sager (I have no connection to them) is a 17", has a Duo 3.0 proc, NVIDIA Quadro 2500M graphics card, 2x200 Gig hard drives @ 7200RPM. It's been terrific.
Many thanks,

Oops, duo 2.33 procs.
my dell precision is a little heavy but rock solid and i travel all over the world with it
