Hello. I noticed whilst editing on someone elses machine the other day that 5.2 didnt have hdv as an option, only DVCpro.
Can anyone tell me which release was the first to contain the HDV codec.

I'm using 5.2.4, and it does HDV just fine.

As a matter of interest, what codecs are listed in 5.2.4
DVCpro &
HDV & ?
Couldn't really tell you, you might try the knowledge base. I can tell you that 5.2.4 will capture to DV25 411, DV 50, 15:1 or 1:1 for SD and HDV 145. To access the HDV resolutions, you need to change the project format to 1080iHDV. There's a format tab in the main bins window.

You are not having any access to HDV resolutions using this method. To do the above suggested method would not give you any HDV resolutions at all. What the above method DOES do is allow you to view 1080 HDV (captured) downconverted to SD to view on a monitor, nothing more.To access the HDV resolutions you have to create a new project and select the resolution (from the drop-down list) when setting it up. Now, having used 5.2.4 myself it has severe issues in working with 720 footage, folks did comment that working with 1080 had better results.I discovered that a lot of HDV and Avid issues got worked out, for me at least, in the latest 5.8.x version.
