Greetings...
I am working on an 1080:24P project, which will be outputed to an HDcam tape digital cut and DVD. I know that this has been discussed many times and it just grow me up to be more confused what's the best solution.
I want to keep the quality intact; no degradation in quality whatsoever. I'd like to do it the best way ever. I know that some outputed drectly (real time) using Pioneer recoders etc. I just would like to know how can I do it through software. My question are:
1- what is the best software that make the conversion from Media files into a format that can be authoured, is it Sorenson, or Tempegen or any other software?
2- what's the best DVD authouring software?
3- Is it possible to use Sonic Scenarist, and if yes what is the workflow starting from Avid MCA?
Thanks a lot
Dan

...Sorensen Squeeze does a very good job encoding a QT reference from the MC timeline. If you have the Avid Studio Toolkit installed along with your MC, then you could create a Meta Track on your timeline (M1) just above your video track and then export the whole timeline, including chapter marks and thumbnail pictures to go with each button you make in Avid DVD.
If you don't have the Avid Studio Toolkit installed, then export a Quick Time Reference of your edited sequence and send it to Sorensen Squeeze. Use the NTSC_Lg preset in Squeeze and then encode away. Drop the resulting MPEG 2 DVD compliant file into Scenarist and author away. You can afford Scenarist ? How much is that app ? About $40K ?
The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
