Today I totally confirmed the MC 2.8.3 works with XDCAM EX 35 Mbs footage.
1.- Import from the SxS card with the clip browser (latest version)
2.- Convert to MXF (fast!)
3.- Open a 1080 59.93 project (or whatever way you shot).
4.- Import normally from a Bin.
"Art can't exist without Craft"
Could you be more specific? When you say "convert to MXF" what exactly are you doing? When you say "import normally from a Bin" do you mean open a clip normally, i.e. drag to timeline or open in source monitor? Couple more while I have your attention...How do you name the different clips since I am assuming that the camera is giving them some kind of alpha-numeric name. Last one...do you ever work in SD with this camera?
Thanks for your patience!

Hi.
Could you be more specific? When you say "convert to MXF" what exactly are you doing?
1- Converting to MXF with the Clip Browser. That's the only conversion you can do with the clip browser, so you can't go wrong.
When you say "import normally from a Bin"
.- Sorry, since I right click on the Bin and select "Import" I wrongly call it "import from a bin".
let's better call it "import to a bin".
Or simply, import.
do you mean open a clip normally, i.e. drag to timeline or open in source monitor?
.- Import ther MXF you previously converted with the Clip Browser, as you import a Quicktime or a Jpg. Right click on a Bin and select import.
Couple more while I have your attention...How do you name the different clips since I am assuming that the camera is giving them some kind of alpha-numeric name.
.- You can change the name with the Clip Browser.
Last one...do you ever work in SD with this camera?
.- Nope, but it must be even easier. The tricky part was with the 35 Mbs HQ.
Hi Raspago
Thanks for sharing that.
What is possible when it comes to exporting a completed XDCAM EX project?
Is it possible to export a master as an XDCAM file? Or will the final project have to use other formats?
The main scenario I'm thinking about is keeping everything tapeless, so in the end the original footage and the project master is stored on a hard disk without going through any recompressing/encoding.
Thanks in advance if you're able to help.
Many thanks for taking the time to run thru this...
We can confirm this works as well. Even though there weas a throng of people waiting for this feature, Avid did not find it sufficiently noteworthy to mention in the readme for x.8.3. One caveat is that you must import your clips into a project w/ the same raster & frame rate - e.g., 1080/29.97p clips must be imported into a 1080/29.97p project, etc.
The EX1 does not do any flavor of SD - it is HD all the way.
