FILLER LAYER TURNS COLOR OF CLIP ON LAYER BELOW IN TIMELINE

We've been experiencing an odd occurence. When you remove filler and replace it, it colors it the color of the clip below in the timeline!  We are on Unity, on a large visual effects film project and GREEN means final in our timeline. Now, filler (2.40 mask) layer is showing up as green, which is a bit of a pain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to remove it? We've tried cutting in uncolored filler and it does not work!

Please see attached image for reference.

Re: FILLER LAYER TURNS COLOR OF CLIP ON LAYER BELOW IN TIMELINE

I've had the same issue ever since MC 2.7.3. Resize/mask effects on top layers will take on the color coding of the underlying clip whenever there starting point matches up.

I consider it a bug and it would be better if this were fixed.

You might try the following workaround:

Create an extra layer of filler in between the clips in your timeline and the mask track, then add a resize effect to that track (with no size modifications). If this works, you could lock and hide the resize-track. Bit clumsy, though.
