Here's an idea for Avid: As more and more cameras move to solid state and hard drive based recording, resulting in video files rather than video signal or video stream, Avid is again lagging behind Apple. New cameras that come out support QT natively, that means that there's no ingestion or digitizing needed when bringing their footage in to Final Cut Pro (yuck.) Will Avid develop codecs that can be incorporated into those new cameras so newly acquired footage can be directly and instantly used on Avid systems?

If those cameras can use QT, surely they can use an Avid codec,

let's hope to see this idea becoming reality soon, it will definitely help us,

I am corrected, even though i was referring more to the new pro-sumer HD cameras, you don't really expect a small production company to take one of those Ikegami's on the road to film a documentary.

 I also forgot to mention that Avid can edit DVC Pro HD or otherwise recorded on Panasonic P2 cameras natively straight from the P2 cards or the focus DVCPro protable hard drive. Infact any camera that Records XDCam, DVCPro HD, or HDV in the MXF file format is capable of giving you the type of instant access to recorded media in Avid that FCP enjoys with Quicktime.
