    Import photos

    Hi all,

Very simple question, which I know there is a very simple answer for - which I have forgot ! What I am trying to do is import images (JPEGS) into Avid Express Pro HD 5.7, and use them in the same shot as video footage - simple enough ?

The problem I am having is that when I import and resize (using the resize tool) a background appears with the photo that covers the video footage which I can't seem to get rid of.  I've tried importing in different sizes from photoshop but this doesn't seem to do it.  Having looked at the Avid and Photoshop CS3 help files, I am now confronted with Alpha channels and Matte keys which have left me more confused.

I'm sure there's a one sentence explanation to this !

    Cheers

You don't want to use resize. Use the PIP under the blend column and promote it to 3D.

Actually one quick question.  I have resized the images to 720x576 PAL in photoshop, if I resize them using PIP with Constrained Proportions will this distort too much ?

If  you blow them up, yes. It will become pixelated.

You are better off using the Avid Pan and Zoom effect if you would like to manipulate High res photos.
