I need help rendering a QuickTime using the AVID Meridian Uncompressed codec. I've tried everything I know to do. When I import the QuickTime into AVID, it sees that it's Meridian Uncompressed 1:1 but it still wants to convert it or it will not play properly. If I convert it, it takes 10 times longer to import.
My current setup in Digital Fusion:
1) File > Preferences > *CompName.comp* (not: Global and new comp defaults) > I/O > QuickTIme > Compressor: Avid Meridien Uncompressed
2) File > Preferences > *CompName.comp* > I/O > QuickTime > Configure: Color Input: RGB Levels (0-255) - Type: Meridien Progressive - Video Format: NTSC
3) Within my comp/flow - Add a Saver - Saver Properties > File Tab: Output Format: QuickTime Movies - Process Mode: Full Frames - Save Frames: Full Renders Only
4) Saver Properties > Export Tab: Normal
5) Saver Properties > Legal Tab: Video Type: NTSC - Action: No Changes
6) Saver Properties > Format Tab: Compression: Avid Meridien Uncompressed - Quality: 100 - Frame Rate: 23.98 - Attempt to Save Alpha Checked
Where am I going wrong?
Here is what it says:
Avid Meridien Uncompressed Exporting using an Avid Editing Application: When you export 1:1 OMF material “same as source” or as a QuickTime reference movie from an Avid editing application, the Avid Meridien Uncompressed codec is used to view the movie in a non-Avid program.
You should import a QuickTime movie that has been compressed with this codec into an Avid editing application as 1:1 OMF in an SD project. The movie will be “fast imported” if you select the 601/709 option in the Import Settings dialog box and import the video as 1:1 OMF into an SD project.
Exporting from a non-Avid product: Export using this codec at a size of 720 x 486 (D1 NTSC) or 720 x 576 (D1 PAL), otherwise the export fails.
Alpha: This codec supports alpha channels. Alpha will be “fast imported” if you select the 601/709 option in the Import Settings dialog box, set the alpha channel import option to Use Existing, and import the movie as 1:1 OMF into an SD project.
You should check this link for more information about avid codecs.
When exporting from DF should not set color levels to RGB, because when importing into avid colors will look washed out.
