    Can I use Mac 10.4.8 with Xpress 4.8.4

    On the following machine: Machine Name: Power Mac G4 Machine Model: PowerMac3,6 CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB Memory: 1.75 GB Bus Speed: 167 MHz Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2 I know there are some posts, but I can't follow them, has anything changed in this situation. thanks

    No. 10.4.7 and above broke  the dongle drivers for 4.8.4.

    I recall there was a not so solid workaround that involved downloading a different Sentinel driver (from a different application). It made may AXP launch, but it would not relaunch without rebooting the Mac.

    Basically, it will not work, and any fix is not very reliable.

    The method is known as the "pelicano fix", thanks to Pelicano who found the solution. Do a search on the forum and you'll find his post. It was a reliable method - you just needed to reapply the fix each time you updated the Mac OS - I used 4.8.4 all the way up to 10.4.11 using this method.
