When the acquisition format is 24pN on P2, is there a workflow that allows you to playback at 30 or 60 fps with a pulldown inserted (like you can from Varicam shot 24p to tape)?
In other words, does shooting 24pN onto P2 media require that you work in a 24p project?
What workflow is being used when 24pN is the source, and 30 or 60i is the required output?
Thanks.
This is the problem with file-based media. You have no choice but to work in the project of the file's framerate. So, you are stuck in a 24p project.
The workflow would have been to shoot in a 23.976 project, which would have allowed for outputting to tape at 29.97/59.94 with pulldown.
I would post in the 24p forum, as Michael Phillips will be a big help to you in this situation.
The moral of the story is...you have to know what your end format is and keep that in mind when you shoot. You can't just let firector's shoot whatever they want, they must take the end format into consideration. Otherwise, you (and the project) will be paying for it in post.
