The Toronto Avid User Group was founded in 1995 by Al Mitchell.  Al is President of PPD, a state-of-the-art video and film post-production company servicing the broadcast, commercial, infomercial and corporate markets.

After serving as the President for 10+ years, Al passed the torch in 2007 to now President Peter Hordylan.  Peter has spent the majority of his career as a freelance television editor. Both offline and online editing, he honed his skills on Avid Non-linear editing equipment including Avid Xpress DV, Media Composer & Symphony. Never shying away from other projects or challenges, Peter continues to edit and has developed his own style of directing. Peter is currently the Supervising Editor position of a very large reality television series in Canada.   Peter has brought a fresh feel to the group along with very ambitious plans for the future.  The latest meeting was held at the Royal Theatre with over 300 attendees.  The group’s success is based on the enthusiasm of the Toronto community and the innovative editing panel discussions such as Drama in editing, Editing for a Reality show, and editing a TV comedy show.
